Abstract:
Your boss asks “Can we finish this on time and budget?” You sense her panic. Do you know the answer? The usual story of “this is what we did last week and what we plan to do next week” won’t cut it. She wants a definite yes or no on whether you can meet the targets.

Were your estimates reliable? Are you getting adequate information from your team? You may have the ambitious member who promises much and delivers little or the procrastinator who delivers excellent work but always late. How can you assess their work and progress with any accuracy?

This session will provide you with techniques to measure and monitor on-going progress, allowing you to promptly identify adverse variance and trends so you can take corrective action as needed.

You will gain a deeper understanding of what is actually going on in your project so you will be able to reliably make better decisions that will allow you to deliver on time and on budget.

About the Presenter
Donald Scott, PMP, has held a PMP certification since 2000, and is currently the Director of Professional Development with the Province of British Columbia’s Project Management Centre of Excellence.

He is an experienced instructor and a recognized subject matter expert on project management. He led the development of the Project Management Lifecycle Guide and has co-authored training materials currently in use for the Public Service. Don has over 17 years of project management experience and has worked in the Project Management Office of three different government Ministries.

Don is a past president of PMI’s Vancouver Island Chapter and has served on the Board of Advisors for Project World Vancouver. He has presented at Project World on four occasions.
