Abstract:
Earned Value is a popular management technique that builds on information provided by traditional scheduling techniques to plan and measure the overall productivity of a system or project. The benefits of the Earned Value method come from disciplined planning and the availability of metrics which highlight real variances from plan and kick-start appropriate corrective actions.

This Webinar uses Distributive Management’s web-based performance dashboard software, DataDrill, to bring to life the ease with which an automated measurement process supports Earned Value techniques.
• Plan, budget, and schedule in time-phased 'planned value' increments to create a cost and schedule measurement baseline.
• Measure the dollar volume of work planned vs. the dollar volume of work accomplished to report work progress and identify schedule variance.
• Measure earned value vs. the actual cost incurred to highlight cost variance and properly relate cost, schedule and technical accomplishments.
• Provide a basis for continuous improvement in management control systems leading to better internal operations.

About the Presenter:
Don Baxter has been involved in the field of software and systems management for the past 13 years. He is presently a Senior Account Manager at Distributive Management, where he provides measurement and metrics solutions. He is privileged to work with leading technology companies to deploy quantitative measurement and management systems. His career includes a wide range of program management functions within the defense department and government, including the U.S. Navy’s AEGIS combat system, various weapon systems, NASA and the U.S. Army. He gained experience in all aspects of systems and software development, including configuration management (CCB/CRB), test planning/coordination, budgeting and estimation and requirements engineering.
